The first of two suspects for the lethal firebombing of the Marfin Bank and “Ianos” bookstore in May 2010, a 32-year-old, has been released on bail. The investigator and prosecutor cannot seem to agree whether the second suspect should also be released on bail or detained.

The 32-year-old suspect faces serious charges of attempted manslaughter, possession and detonation of explosives regarding the arson attack on the bookstore. The suspect is required to present himself at his local police station once a month and is not allowed to leave the country.

The 32-year-old suspect was recognized by an employee of the bookstore from police pictures of the crowd of demonstrators. However, when shown pictures of the suspect, he witness was unable to recognize him. The same also occurred with another suspect.
