A series of strikes are to take place on Thursday. In Athens there will be no bus, OSE train or Suburban Rail services. There will also be no Metro services from Doukissis Plakentias to the Airport.

The hospitals, health centers, first aid, chronic disease clinics and welfare services will operate with security staff, according to the 24-hour strike announced by POEDIN and OENGE. The two unions will demonstrate outside the Ministry of Health at noon. Doctors registered with EOPYY have also announced 48-hour retention of services, warning of future action should EOPYY not honor its promises. Doctors from the hospital in Ierapetra will also participate in the demonstration.

The Supreme Administration of Public Employee Unions (ADEDY) has called for a walkout at noon, so that all employees can attend the protest. GENOP DEI has called a 24-hou strike for Thursday, over the political mobilization of Metro employees and in solidarity to employees in public transport.

PNO, the maritime federation, has warned that the 48-hour strike starting on Thursday could escalate to further action. At 10.30am the union will congregate by the “El. Venizelos” ship at the pier opposite the St. Dionysius church, with a further discussion over future actions to take place on Friday.

Viotia farmers have taken to the streets and decided to meet with their tractors at Orhomeno. From there they will head to Kastro of Viotia, near the Athens – Thessaloniki high way.
