Following a question by PASOK MP Konstantinos Triantafyllos in Parliament, Deputy Minister of Finances Giorgos Mavraganis revealed that SDOE, the special task force against financial crime, has sent some 116,648 reports to tax and customs services, between 2009 and 30 November 2012, regarding taxpayer debts and fines.
The Deputy Minister noted however that the collection of fines imposed following SDOE reports, is “exceptionally difficult”, due to the huge amount and that those legally liable, in most cases, do not have the assets to pay on time.
The PASOK MP posed the question in Parliament to be informed of the progress of SDOE investigations, as well as the total fines imposed and collected since 2009.
