Yet another firm was found to illegally own and trade the personal data of citizens. Cyber Crime Police found hundreds of thousands of pieces of information on the firm’s computers, such as full names, vehicle registration information, incomes, private phone numbers, tax details and more.
The bust was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation in similar recent cases. The firm’s 45-year-old owner was taken to the Prosecutor of the Misdemeanor Courts of Athens, where he was charged for violating laws regarding the protection of personal data.
Following the investigation at the firm’s offices, the police confiscated three hard-drives with a total capacity of 13,200 GB, which will be sent to the police crime labs for further investigation. According to the Police’s press release, a senior member of the Personal Data Protection Authority assisted in the investigation.
