The electronic system of prescription has had a fair share of problems since it was launched. The problems are not restricted to technical issues though, as the Medical Association of Athens has reacted to “foufoutos” being the placeholder name for the prescribing doctor.
The Medical Association of Athens considers that term to have a negative slant, as well as being derogatory towards doctors and their profession. In their announcement they are “amazed at the disrespect with which doctors are treated”.
The “e-prescription” system was not operating properly for four twenty-five minute periods. In their announcement, IDIKA S.A underlined that “despite extensive testing, such isolated problems are bound to pop up on the first day of applications as huge as that of electronic prescription”.
