Citizens from Halkidiki are traveling to Athens for a protest against the Skouries investment, which will take place outside Propylaea this afternoon at 6 pm. Opposition leader Alexis Tsipras will visit Alexandroupoli, to lend his support to the citizens against the mining investment.

On Monday, a municipal council in Thessaloniki discussed the operation of the Skouries gold mines in a rather civil tone. Representatives of all sides exchanged opinions, although the mayor of Aristotelis Christos Pachtas was booed when he spoke of political games.

About 70 people reacting to the investment congregated outside the mayor’s office, while 200 workers from the mines protested for the investment.
