According to a survey conducted by GPO for Mega TV, New Democracy comes first in voter’s preferences, approximately 1.8% ahead of SYRIZA.

When asked about their voting intentions, the survey showed (last month’s div in parentheses):

  • New Democracy 21.3% (20.3%)
  • SYRIZA 19.5% (20.3%)
  • Golden Dawn 10.1% (9%)
  • PASOK 6.7% (7.5%)
  • ANEL 6.4% (6.3%)
  • KKE 5.8% (5.8%)
  • DIMAR 5.1% (5%)
  • Other party 1.9% (4.1%)
  • Abstinence 6.3% (6.1%)
  • Don’t know 12.3% (15.6%)

Regarding the smaller parties ANTARSYA got 1.8% of the vote, Andreas Loverdos’ Agreement for the New Greece 1%, Ecologists-Greens 0.9% and LAOS 0.9%.

When asked who is the most appropriate Prime Minister Antonis Samaras got 46.3% of the vote, the opposition leader Alexis Tsipras 29.3% and none of the above 25% (up from 23.5% last month).

When asked whether Golden Dawn’s increased presence is threat to democracy 67.6% agreed, 31.1% disagreed and 1.3% did not answer. Those who agreed that Golden Dawn is a threat to democracy were then asked how they would deal with the problem: 52.9% said through a “political and ideological juxtaposition, 41.3% through “legal interventions”, while 5.8% had no opinion.

Finally when asked if Greece needs a new anti-racism law 50.2% agreed, 44.4% disagreed and 5.8% were uncertain.

The survey was conducted between the 24th and 25th of May.
