Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras gave a briefing to Greek Parliament over the recent negotiations for Cyprus issue.

Mr. Tsipras underlined that a fair solution of Cyprus issue can be achieved on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions and the fact that Cyprus is a member of European Union.

He also said that Greece supports Nicosia’s efforts and that Greek involvement concerns only security issues.

Commenting Turkish stance he said that «It appeared that Turkey did not have the intention of accepting a solution of a truly independent and sovereign Cyprus, even with the gradual withdrawal of the occupation Turkish) army.»

Main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented that Ankara refused to see with clear eyes the common future of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots and that Turkey is the only responsible for the negotiations’ failure.
