The vagueness in last Monday’s Eurogroup’s agreement in principle is making the restarting negotiations even harder

Completing the 2nd review as soon as possible is the greek government’s main goal after the agreement in principle for lowering the tax-free threshold and the pensions cuts in last Monday’s Eurogroup meeting.

According to governmental sources the negotiatons for the measures’ final formation are starting the following week.
Other sources add that the institutions are arriving in Athens on Clean Monday and negotiatons are starting on Tuesday, as a lot of groundwork has already been done. They also comment that as soon as an initial agreement about the macroeconomic and fiscal predictions will be achieved, a new Eurogroup meeting will be held dealing with the length of primary budget surpluses of 3.5% (of annual GDP).

On the contrary Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem stated that a lot of work is still needed in labor laws, pension system and tax reforms and that at this point there is no political agreement.
