The recent assault against the President of the State Council was unprecedented in our country’s history – at least in contemporary times. Angered citizens verbally assaulted the State Council President as he crossed the square in Kolonaki. He was booed for everything happening in the Supreme Court and especially what he stated later on.

The reaction is focused on the President’s opinion that the judge must take into account the Public Opinion.

This view is clearly dangerous. If the peopel can can form protest groups, then there is the fear of generalizated instances of authoritarianism which generally threaten the legal order and thus the constitution.

Democracy is turning into a jungle. Those in power and those being governed on sitting on the same branch!
