Acclaimed film director and producer Nikos Triantafyllidis has passed away at the age of 49, it was announced on Tuesday. Triantafyllidis, the son of Greek comedian Harry Klynn (real name Vasilis Triantafyllidis) and dancer Chariklia Makri, was born in 1966 in Chicago and studied sociology and communications at the Pantion University in Athens.

He began his career directing documentaries and music videos, but also worked as a script writer and radio producer, including Top FM and the BBC World Service. In recent years he was involved in the organization of concerts at the Gagarin 205 venue in Athens. His latest documentary, which he did not manage to see complete, was focused on the 90th anniversary of PAOK.
