The situation at the border crossing with FYROM at Idomeni, in the north of Greece, is growing increasingly tense, in light of the recent clashes between refugees and police.
Authorities on both sides of the border are concerned as rumors being circulated suggest that “the border will open”, causing further commotion and frustration among the refugees and migrants.
The latest rumors suggest that the a gathering will take place in order to pull down the fence set up by FYROM on the border at 11am. Sources also note that various “activists” have promised to support the refugees with Molotov cocktail bombs.
About 12,000 remain at the makeshift camp Idomeni, in hopes of crossing over into FYROM and from then on to central and western European countries. Following the clashes on Sunday, four bus-loads of refugees left for hospitality centers in Central Macedonia.
