The Ministry of Finances is currently working on a series of incentives in order to encourage taxpayer use of credit and debit cards. The intention of the ministerial plans is for taxpayers to use cards for 70-80% of their expenses.

Among the measures being considered is for taxpayers who use cards to have a greater tax-free allowance, as well as introducing different tax scales per income category, depending on whether cards are used or not.

According to sources from the Ministry of Finances, the Alternate Minister Tryfon Alexiadis is currently working on the incentives so that they may come into effect next year.
