The political secretariat of SYRIZA decided upon a conference in February, earlier than initially planned, after a Thursday-evening meeting was held under Alexis Tsipras at the party’s central offices.
The decision to bring the party conference forward suggests that the party leadership wants to address the upheaval caused by the recent departure of the Left Platform and other party officers.
Essentially Mr. Tsipras has taken the decision to carry out a major reorganization of the party in February in order to fill the gap left by Panagiotis Lafazanis and his supporters.
