A tornado has struck in Laconia causing serious damages in the town of Skala, with store fronts smashed, uprooted trees strewn in the streets and cars turned over.
Early reports indicate that the tornado struck at about 8 in the morning on Monday and was so strong that it managed to tip over cars that were parked in the town center. There have also been reports of residents being injured.
The strong winds have knocked out the electrical supply to the town, while municipal authorities are struggling to do what they can.
