The first leg of the UEFA Europa League play offs begin tonight, with three Greek teams hoping to progress to the group stage of the European football club competition. The rematches are scheduled for the 27th of August.

The Greek football action kicks in Azerbaijan, where Athens-based Panathinaikos will face Qäbälä in (7pm), while PAOK will face Denmark’s Brøndby in Thessaloniki (8pm) and Atromitos plays against Turkish side Fenerbahçe in Peristeri (9pm).

Of the three teams Panathinaikos – theoretically – has the easiest task, while Atromitos is expected to have a hard time against Turkish Süper Lig Runners-up Fenerbahçe.

Greek Super League champions and cup-holders Olympiacos will compete in the Champions League and awaits the draw for the group stage, which will be held in Monaco on the 27th of August.
