The country’s largest trade union, ADEDY, has called a nationwide walkout, in support of the 24-hour strike launched by the federation of public hospital employees (POEDIN), while a demonstration will be held outside the Ministry of Health at 12:30. The walk out comes into effect at noon and will last until the end of the working day.
The main demands include:
- Free and public healthcare for everyone
- Increase funding for the national healthcare system
- Abolish austerity policies aimed at shrinking and privatizing the national healthcare system
- Pay outstanding overtime and restore wages
