The Prime Minister cannot be feeling too proud about his government’s appearance yesterday. In just one day, Ministers and officers managed to create a scene of complete disconnection, to present a government that is being tried by a complete lack of coordination.

We started off with the foray of a group of anarchists in Parliament, which the President of Parliament was quick to dub a peaceful and just demonstration and to attack, as the government officers tend to do lately, the media which covered the development, in accordance with their duties. Obviously, according to Mrs. Konstantopoulou, they also… seduced the government spokesman, who dubbed that action provocative and incomprehensible.

The second mess is related to the infamous increase of the VAT and ENFIA taxes. One minister claimed it concerns two islands, another seems to have no idea. Meanwhile, the real estate tax is constantly being abolished, but ultimately it will stick around, with some improvements, with the shortfall being covered by other sources.

The third and perhaps the worse confusion, because it concerns the country’s future and progress, is whether we will pay the next IMF payment. According to Mr. Voutsis “if the installment is not paid out by the 9th of April, we will chose to first pay wages and pensions and ask from the partners to agree and understand why we cannot pay the IMF on time”. Similarly, Mr. Skourletis stated that “we would gladly like to stat onboard the ship called Europe, […] however if the captain kicks us off deck, then we will have to try to swim”. And then the government spokesman was quick to provide reassurances that “there is not chance of Greece not fulfilling its obligations towards the IMF”…

This is completely chaotic situation, at the same time when we are negotiations with the “institutions” the measures that we proposal, in hopes of overcoming the pressure we are currently experiencing. These measures, of course, we found out via the Financial Times.

While there is still time, the Prime Minister, who has the overall responsibility, ought to put some order to his government and then clarify his negotiations tactics. The uncertainty in economy and experienced by the people must come to an end as soon as possible. The country cannot remain the experiment project of trainee magicians anymore.
