At the time of writing these lines the outcome of the crisis, of course, is not known. The action on screen suggests that the possibility of Greece leaving the euro must not be ruled out.

In case such a thing happened the consequences are said to be catastrophic. It will cause an earthquake in the European Union and shake the global economy.

A terrible game of dominoes is about to begin, which everyone – from the European leaders to the US President – want to avoid.

The immediate intervention of the American President is what makes this case special. Already, a team of American experts has traveled to Athens to work on finding a solution. Washington’s goal is to help the Greek government overcome the substantial challenge, by helping Athens present a plan acceptable by EU bodies.

The American have a habit of getting involved in the domestic affairs of other countries (friendly or not), but they will not admit to it. The exception of course is when they can boast, such as in the case of the restoration of Democracy in Greece, only a few hours before the dictatorship was overthrown. Henry Kissinger announced the collapse of the military junta a few hours earlier.

The problem of the Greek economy may likely be solved without any “bloodshed”. If Mr. Obama’s delegates can help find a solution to the problem, then it likely that one may talk about real “American help to Greece”.

Unless of course they truly (?) saw Moscow wink at Athens!
