The Police’s bomb squad has neutralized a suspicious parcel that contained an implemented explosive device, which had been placed outside the Eurobank branch in Halandri.
The zougla.gr news website and the Efimerida Ton Syntakton newspaper were contacted at 5am on Wednesday, with the anonymous called warning that a bomb outside the bank would go off in 30 minutes.
After being informed, the Police’s bomb squad unit cordoned off the area and after the 30 minutes passed, tackled the IED with a controlled explosion. Upon closer inspection it appears that not all of the bomb’s wiring was connected.
The counter-terrorism police have launched an investigation.
