The man who ANEL MP Stavroula Xoulidou has named as a middleman in an alleged bribe attempt, Giorgos Soukouras, appeared on Mega Channel on Friday morning to deny the allegations.

Mr. Soukouras claimed that he never bribed anyone and that he had no relationship with New Democracy. He argued that he has “never spoke about money and the President” and while admitting to have visited the officers of Mrs. Xoulidou, as well as Adonis Georgiadis and Notis Mitarakis, he claims they only “discussed the pensions of Northern Epirots”.

Regarding a message where he appears to insinuate that ANEL MP Panagiotis Melas [pictured] accepted a bribe, Mr. Soukouras apologized for implicating him and claimed that he had made an inadvertent mistake. Mr. Soukouras alleges that he was asking Mrs. Xoulidou whether Mr. Melas took a bribe, rather than stating it as a fact. Mr. Melas responded that the bribery allegation was a «monstrous lie«.
