The Hellenic Ornithological Society has launched an interactive “TAIPED Watchdog” in order to inform and mobilize the Greek people over the effects the privatization of public property will have on the environment.

The Society has launched an interactive map highlighting the areas for sale all over Greece by the privatization fund. Each highlighted point on the interactive map provides environmental information along with the public authorities responsible for the area. The ultimate goal of the Ornithological Society is to inform citizens and local authorities of the changes that may occur as a result of privatization.

According to the Ornithological Society, the exact location and correct identification of the areas for sale is highly important, as a few meters can make a significant difference in the protection status of ecosystems, as is the case of coastal areas with sand dunes. The map also contains protected areas such as wildlife refuges, Natura 2000 areas and national parks.
