The Prime Minister Antonis Samaras declared unemployment to be “sneaky and cruel enemy” and argued that “we need to take action now that were entering the phase of recovery”, following the Monday morning meeting of the Government Employment Council.

On his way out from the meeting, the Minister of Employment Yannis Vroutsis announced that it was decided to compose a register of businesses that did not have any insurance contribution debts and respected employment legislation. The businesses included in this register will avoid Labor Inspectorate (SEPE) checks and may even benefit from contribution discounts.

Mr. Samaras will meet with the Government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos, the Minister of Finances Gikas Hardouvelis and the rest of the Greek envoy that will head to Paris for the discussions with the troika later in the afternoon. Mr. Samaras and Mr. Venizelos will discuss final details of the Greek positions.

The Minister of Labor Yannis Vroutsis, Administrative Reform Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Growth Nikos Dendias and Justice Charalambos Athanasiou are going to participate in the afternoon meeting.
