In his appearance in Parliament, the Minister of Finances Gikas Hardouvelis stated that “the nearer we get to the end of the fiscal reform program, the measures will be more structural in nature” adding that “we have taken most of the beating” in reference to the reforms.

Mr. Hardouvelis took the stand in Parliament to support the coalition government’s multi-bill and argued that all EU member-states recognize that bold, progressive reforms are necessary to ensure that the European economy is sustainable.

The Finance Minister also commented that the reforms are not the initiative of any singly minister or government officer, but rather the government as a whole.
