The head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde commented on Tuesday that analyzing the sustainability of debt, based on the confirmed primary surplus, is the first step in determining the next move.

Mrs. Lagarde met with journalists in her office in Washington and repeated her expectation that Greece’s European partners will keep the promises they made in 2012, regarding Greece’s needs.

The IMF chief refused to comment whether Greek debt relief was necessary or not and if so in what way such relief will be provided, but praised the efforts in securing a primary surplus and the implementation of the Greek program.
