The property owner federation POMIDA has requested a 50% cut of the unified real estate tax (“ENFIA”) for vacant property that does not generate any income.

In response to an amendment on the ENFIA tax submitted in Parliament by the Ministry of Finances, the federation commented that the government appears to be indifferent to the true problems which property owners face.

POMIDA notes that while some of the changes are in the right direction, they only concern owners in limited areas, while the bulk of changes are procedural and of an administrative nature related to the collection of the tax.

The federation stressed that the reduction of the tax to an acceptable rate for all tax payers in not just a matter of social and tax justice, but will also ensure that more owner are going to pay the new tax.
