Last spring there was the popular belief that certain New Democracy executives and members of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn gang had opened up networks of communication.

The press offices were inundated by relevant reports which named the government’s secretary T. Baltakos as being one of the main interlocutors with Golden Dawn, especially Christos Papas, Golden Dawn’s second-in-command who is currently detained at the Korydallos prison.

Some even described Mr. Baltakos as a matchmaker and contact between certain financial interest and the neo-Nazi gang.

Furthermore, during the same period, Mr. Baltakos and other nationalist from the New Democracy school of thought began propagating the idea of a reborn, purebred Right-wing faction which could cooperate, align itself and govern together with a “lighter” version of Golden Dawn.

Some commentators even supported the possibility of a political cooperation between New Democracy and a more “refined” version of Golden Dawn, causing many heated reactions.

Mr. Baltakos’ flirtation with Golden Dawn is old news and is probably associated, amongst other, with his Maniot origin and his aim to form a purebred Rightwing, anti-communist faction which would apparently clear up ideological and political things in Greece.

We have firsthand knowledge that Mr. Samaras detests the neo-Nazis and everything that threatens our people’s national struggles. He has commented and spoken harshly of Michaloliakos’ bullies.

However, nobody can rule out the possibility that he may have put up with various aspects of Mr. Baltakos’ activities for political reasons, especially he contact with deceived right-wing voters of Michaloliakos.

In any case, this tolerance has ceased to exist since the cold-blooded murder of Pavlos Fyssas.

Since then, Samaras found himself on the other side, without any doubts or reservations.

He supported the police and investigative authorities’ efforts and demanded an exemplary punishment. Since then he hasn’t budged an inch, despite the impact of the shooting of the two Golden Dawn members in N. Iraklio.

Obviously, his stance completely isolated Golden Dawn, so they appealed to Mr. Baltakos, the man they recognized as a potential ally and interlocutor… whom they obviously entrapped and presented to public opinion as a conspirator and abuser of Mr. Samaras’ trust.

They way that Baltakos appears speaking to Kasidiaris is rather specific and indicative of the appreciation he has for the Prime Minister.

There is no doubt that Mr. Samaras was nurturing a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

He is responsible for it and that is why he is paying for it.

However, he owes an explanation and must clear out the “dark circle” that may accompany him.

Otherwise he risks losing everything he painstakingly achieved over the past couple years.
