The largest public sector union ADEDY has announced a walk out in Attica from noon until the end of the shift, in reaction to the government’s suspension plans for healthcare, education and national insurance.

A demonstration has also been arranged to take place outside the Ministry of Health today at noon. ADEDY specifically accuses the government of planning “new funding cuts for healthcare in 2014, insisting upon the implementation of neoliberal bailout politics”, while arguing that the changes will undermine the healthcare services.

Many of the changes, such as the 25-eyro hospital admission fee, will make healthcare even more of unapproachable to vulnerable sections of society. ADEDY also accused the government of taking measures which will benefit private interests and the commercialization of the national healthcare system ESY.
