TAIPED’s investment competition for a plot of land in Afantou in Rhodes has fallen though since no investments offers were made for the second time this year. In total there have been five competitions for the investment of the Afantou area, without attracting any interest.

While TAIPED’s first competition in July last year resulted in seven investment offers, the competition was cancelled after consulting with local bodies on the environment impact. A new competition was announced for November last years, but there was no interest. A new competition will be announced after TAIPED revises its terms.

The lack of investment interest for projects as big as Afantou suggests that investors are focused on cheaper and smaller projects, particularly ones that can generate profits immediately, such as hotel units and lease property.

Afantou is in the northeast corner of Rhodes, about 20 kilometers from the island capital and nearby the international airport. The investment plot is 185 hectares and includes an 18-hole gold course as well the necessary infrastructure for the development of holiday resorts and other leisurely activities.

Qatari investors withdraw from Elliniko investment

The Qatari investment group has decided to withdraw from the investment competition for the former international airport in Elliniko. The investors are still in negotiations for the purchase of other assets in Greece.

With the Qatari investors gone, the only offers for the Elliniko investment are from the UK’s London & Regional Properties, the Israeli Elbit and Lamda Development which is owned by the Latsis Group.
