The board of the Appellate Notaries Associations of Athens-Piraeus, the Aegean, and the Dodecanese islands have announced the postponement of auctions of foreclosed properties that had been scheduled for tomorrow.

The postponement concerns only auctions of properties foreclosed by banks, the Greek public sector, municipalities, and insurance funds.

The announcement by the notaries makes clear that it does not pertain to online auctions, while auctions in property seizure cases filed by private individually will go ahead normally.

The notaries clarified that with this decision they are implementing related legislative initiatives, and they underline the need for delicate manoeuvres on all sides.

“It is self-evident that the process of carrying out auctions demands a delicate handling by all sides, and the common objective is the smooth and secure conduct of auctions, in the interest of all involved, and in the current, exceptionally difficult conditions for Greek society and the market,” the statement read.
